FOX runs "Drive" off the road...

Well, it looks like I don’t need to watch those episodes of “Drive” I have on tape after all…

I stopped singing during the “24” promo (so I wouldn’t hear it) just in time to hear Don LaFontaine (the announcer) say that “24” was following a special “House,” which means “Drive” has been cancelled.

FOX had no choice. Monday’s episode had only 4.6 million viewers, which led to “24” scoring a season low.

So what happened? I would call it a case of overkill.

FOX started promoting “Drive” in January during every one of their programs. I think that people got sick of it before they even watched a single minute. I know I did…

Plus, instead of premiering it right where “Prison Break” left off, FOX waited a week which gave people a chance to start watching something else. Since “Drive” was compared to “Prison Break” quite a bit, I think it would have been wise to premiere it the very next week.

In retrospect, I’m guessing that FOX is regretting not holding off on bringing “Prison Break” back so it could help “24” fight off “Heroes”…

As for the final episodes of “Drive,” there’s no word yet on whether they will be shown on-line…

Picks of the Week: Fast-Driving Dramas You Can Sink Your Teeth Into

When a show gets hyped as much and as long as this one has, I have to make it my Pick of the Week…

Finally, FOX kicks “Drive” into gear with a two-night premiere. If you’ve missed the endless previews during every show on the network, “Drive” is the story of an illegal and mysterious cross-country car race and the people participating in it. Nathan Fillion (“Firefly”) stars. “Drive” premieres Sunday, April 15th with a two-hour episode at 8 p.m. on FOX. Another episode airs in the show’s regular timeslot Monday, April 16th at 8 p.m…

But I would be doing all of you a disservice if I didn’t also spotlight this week’s episode of “Blood Ties.” If you haven’t been watching, now is the time to jump in as the strangest love triangle on TV comes to a head. Last week, the rivalry over Vicki between good cop Mike and Henry the vampire got so intense, Henry was attacked by a jealousy demon. Now, Mike takes drastic action to get rid of Henry with some help from guest star Julian Sands (last seen as “24” baddie Bierko). “Blood Ties” airs Sunday, April 15th at 10 p.m. on Lifetime…
