Jennifer Aniston Shines in the "Dirt"

Is there a more messed up show on TV than “Dirt”?

No, I don’t think so…

If you watched tonight’s episode, then you know what I mean. The scenes with schizophrenic Don battling the voices in his head who were trying to convince him to kill Lucy (Courteney Cox) were totally disturbing. Lucy’s brother as her stalker was just weird and that sex tape thing? Let’s just not go there…

I have to admit, though, that after not seeing an episode since the premiere, it was pretty cool to see Lucy and Holt hooking up. But unfortunately, Cox hasn’t gotten any more convincing as a conniving witch.

However, Jennifer Aniston was fantastic as Lucy’s rival, Tina. For most of the episode Tina charmed everyone in Lucy’s world with her sweetness, eventually even winning Lucy over. But by the end of the episode, Tina was stabbing Lucy in the back in a beautiful scene that hearkened back to the premiere.

And the much ballyhooed kiss? Cox was right, it was no big deal at all…

It was great to see Aniston back on TV, and she was great in the part, but it would have been a lot better to see her on a good show…

Which leads me to the answer to my question from my previous post. What show was crazy enough to turn down a guest spot by Jennifer Aniston? None other than “24.” According to “TV Guide,” both Jennifer and her friend Ben Stiller approached the producers about making an appearance but they were turned down because the producers were concerned that such high profile stars would pull “24” out of its realistic tone…

As for Lucy’s fate after tonight’s cliffhanger, it may forever be up in the air as the ratings for “Dirt” have not been all that great and FX has made no decision on its future.

But if it does return, I would not be surprised to see Aniston return with it…

Pick of the Week: Another "Friend" Gets "Dirt"y

When two stars of my favorite show of all-time reunite, it’s got to be my Pick of the Week, even if it isn’t a very good show…

As you’ve no doubt heard a million times by now, Jennifer Aniston guest stars this week on the season finale of “Dirt,” reuniting her with Courteney Cox. Aniston plays Tina, a rival tabloid editor to Cox’s Lucy.

To add spice to this story, Tina is a lesbian and she shares a kiss with Lucy. Cox has done everything she can to say the kiss is no big deal, but since this is FX, I’m not buying it.

Aniston asked Cox (who is an Executive Producer with her husband, David) if she could be on the show because it looked like they were having so much fun. But interestingly, “Dirt” was not the first show Aniston asked to be a part of. She inquired with producers of another TV drama about making an appearance, but the producers turned her down.

Who would turn down Jennifer Aniston for a guest spot? Guesses?...

The season finale of “Dirt” airs Tuesday, March 27th at 10 p.m. on FX…

And I’ll have the answer to that question for you on Tuesday night, so Stay Tuned…
