"Desperate Housewives": No More Drama?

Warning: This post contains details about last night’s episode of “Desperate Housewives.”

“You’re a drama junkie,” Toni the guide told Susan. “When there is no drama, you create it.”

Wow! Have there ever been truer words spoken on this show? I thought the whole Susan chasing after Mike thing was going to be stupid, so imagine my surprise when it was used to sum up all of the thoughts we had all been thinking all season long…

“I would’ve waited for him,” Toni told Susan when Susan shared her dilemma about Mike in the coma. I would have too, Toni. I would have too.

The only disappointment with this story was the ending. Yes, we got a nice romantic reunion, as Mike picked Susan up and planted a nice big one on her. But after almost an entire season of waiting for these two to get back together, a longer scene would have been nice.

Wait, I forgot. With Susan, it’s no more drama…

But with Lynette, it’s plenty of drama—drama that doesn’t always make sense. I loved Tom’s “conversation” with Rick, but the rest of it? Was that just so Felicity Huffman could show us how well she can cry? I just didn’t get it…

And speaking of not getting things, it looks like I was wrong about Edie faking a pregnancy to keep Carlos. She tried more drastic measures—like trying to get joint custody of her kid (How great was it to see Greg Evigan again?). Fortunately, Carlos put a stop to it, but did he mean what he said? You know he’s still hung up on Gabrielle…

And speaking of Gabrielle, you just knew there would be something up with Victor. But what kind of town is Fairview anyway that you have to use mob tactics to be the mayor? Couldn’t he have just fired that guy? And clearly Victor is not the shrewdest of politicians since he let Gabrielle sport that bruise in front of everyone at the party. I would’ve bought her a big bracelet to cover it up before people started thinking I had given it to her…

But maybe that’s just because I’m a drama junkie myself…

"Desperate Housewives": Doing the Right Thing...

Warning: This post contains details about last night’s episode of “Desperate Housewives”…

So, finally, Ian does something that actually makes me like him. And then he leaves. But of course he waited just a smidge too late to do the right thing. Isn’t that always the way…

I have to say I was a little surprised. I was looking for a big dramatic “speak now or forever hold your piece” wedding moment. I guess instead we’re going to get one of Susan’s classic screw-ups. Just as long as it doesn’t lead her to another boring guy, I’ll be fine with it…

I’m really not sure what to say about this whole Lynette thing, so I’m not going to say anything other than Kayla is such a brat. I’m SO glad the writers remembered her, she wrote sarcastically…

Thank goodness the Mrs. McCluskey situation got settled, but could someone tell me what the point was?...

And I’ve got a hunch as to where the Edie-Carlos story is going and I’m not sure if I like it…

Thoughts on "Desperate Housewives"...

Since I did watch it last night, let me just say a few quick words about “Desperate Housewives” and then turn it over to you…

I really liked that Susan FINALLY stood up for herself and cut the damsel in distress crap. Now she just needs to kick Ian to the curb, and everything will be fine…

Loved Gaby’s speech at the press conference, but would the polls really turn around that quickly? It was still a little inappropriate for a “family values candidate,” wasn’t it? And the whole engagement thing might have been a surprise if “TV Guide” hadn’t given it away on their cover this week…

I was a little disappointed at how quickly Edie went back to Carlos, but I have to say it was completely believable. Edie has always been a woman who goes after what she wants and after seeing Gaby announce her engagement on TV, she figured she could get it…

But why, oh why, do they have to make Mrs. McCluskey out to be a murderer? Does that street really need another one? I REALLY hope there’s more to the story than that…

Your thoughts?...

Last night's "Desperate Housewives"...

I know, I’m running behind this morning, so let’s get right to it…

Warning: The remainder of this post contains details about last night’s episode of “Desperate Housewives”…

Wasn’t it nice of the writers to have Mike take his shirt off before he dove into the water to save Ian? And I knew Susan was stupid, but going to the house of the man she loved (and no doubt, still loves), in just a robe and lingerie? No wonder he kissed her…

I knew Gaby was selfish, but to make Victor jealous in the middle of his debate? That was totally wrong! I would think she’d want to be the girlfriend of the mayor. And speaking of which, if Fairview is such a small town, why is the mayoral election such a big deal?...

I’m really glad Carlos and Edie got it together, because I was going to be mad if the writers just abandoned this one. For some reason, I like this pairing. Maybe because it makes them both grow up…

So last week Lynette was annoying me, and this week it’s Tom. I know the writers are trying to introduce tension into their marriage, but do they have to do it with Tom’s constant complaining and whining? And after seeing that ending, I think Tom should keep his mouth shut. Did anyone see that coming? I certainly didn’t…

Why is Lynette so "Desperate"-ly Annoying?

It seems like forever since we got a new episode of “Desperate Housewives,” doesn’t it? But we finally got one last night and there were some interesting moments…

Warning: The remainder of this post contains details about last night’s episode of “Desperate Housewives.”

The most interesting is the new pairing of Carlos and Edie. I actually think it makes a lot of sense and it’s nice to see two of the most shallow people on the show actually have a little depth. But no doubt Gaby will not be happy about it, especially since we were led to believe last night that she and Edie are now pals…

Although Gaby has got her hands full with her own guy. I have always thought John Slattery (Victor) was sexy, so I’m finding it a little hard to believe that Gaby is able to resist him so easily…

But my biggest concern about the episode is Lynette. When did she become so unbelievably annoying? Every time you turn around she’s using someone to get something only she wants. It’s just an orange t-shirt, Lynette. Get over yourself!

Next week, Jason Gedrick will guest star as a new employee at the Pizzeria that will apparently make things a little more interesting for Lynette—especially since Tom is out for so long. I love Jason Gedrick, but the idea of Lynette cheating on Tom (or even thinking about it) is more than I can take…

Is Felicity Huffman being punished for her success or something?...

"Desperate"-ly Seeking Susan...

As I suspected, it appears the remainder of this season will focus on the love triangle of Mike-Susan-Ian. But I need some help filling in the blanks…
When did Susan find out that Mike was going to propose to her? And why weren’t any of the guys surprised by that revelation?

I also have to say that I was a little disappointed with Rex’s narration. If you were going to bring him back, it would’ve been nicer to give him more to do. It’s a shame they didn’t have him narrate an episode with Bree in it.

Speaking of which, Bree’s absence was incredibly obvious, was it not? She decides her daughter’s fate over the phone? And what about that story anyway? Without Bree, it really made no sense, so why didn’t they just forget it? I did appreciate them getting rid of Austin and Danielle, though, because they’re both terribly annoying, but it just went too quickly.

Love Gaby’s new suitor, though. I have always thought John Slattery was sexy. Not sure how Gaby’s resisting that one…

So what did you think? Can you help me fill in the blanks?...

A "Desperate" Reminder...

Many of your favorite shows are now in reruns, but "Desperate Housewives" is new tomorrow with a special twist...

Mary Alice will give up her narrator duties to another dearly departed character. I won't give away who it is, but it's one of my favorite characters from the show.

"Desperate Housewives" airs Sunday at 9 p.m. on ABC...

"Desperate Housewives": Mystery Solved?

So, “Desperate Housewives” solved its big mystery. But was it all too neat?

Warning: The remainder of this post contains details about tonight’s episode of “Desperate Housewives.”

As I suspected, it was Gloria, Orson’s mother, who killed Monique. And as I also suspected, Gloria had something on Orson to get him to help—the guilt over his father’s suicide.

But as we learned in this dark and twisted episode, Gloria had also killed Orson’s father because he was having an affair and had brought shame to their extremely religious family.

Because Gloria believed that a man should only be with one woman, she decided she should do whatever it took to get Orson and Alma back together—which meant killing Bree. But in her zeal, she also played a part in the death of Alma as well. Orson was, of course, able to save Bree and his fight with his mother caused her to have a debilitating stroke, leaving her unable to speak or move.

Orson left Alma’s suicide note (from where she faked her suicide) and Monique’s teeth next to Alma’s body, framing her for the murder and clearing Mike’s name. He also made it look like Gloria had her stroke when she discovered Alma’s body.

As I said, a neat wrap-up to the whole thing, but it still leaves some unanswered questions. Did Gloria loosen the step on Bree’s ladder? Did the police just decide not to ask any more questions about Orson falling off the roof? And what about Orson hitting Mike? Will that come up again?

Of course, we have to remember that Marcia Cross’ (Bree) real-life pregnancy may have caused the writers to alter some of their plans—although I have to compliment them on their excellent editing tonight. You barely even realized that wasn’t Marcia Cross in the bathtub.

So what did you think? Did it all wrap up too neatly? Was this episode just too dark?

And on another note, how relieved were you to discover that Gaby and Zach didn’t sleep together?!...
