Still in mourning

Things have been light here lately because of something we're doing before the election. So let's pull something out of the archives that got me blue today. It came up one of several photos that rotate when my computer is in screensaver mode.

It was this:

I miss that Jeep. It had 217,000 miles on it before it was totaled almost a year ago. The thing handled terrible. It felt like it was floating through some curves. The front seats were not that comfortable, and the rear bench seat had no headrests, making it not really safe for anyone other than small kids. The manual five-speed wasn't the smoothest I had ever used, and the interior had a certain odor to it that comes with using one vehicle for too many different purposes for so many miles.

But it was paid for, and it still ran well. It did everything I needed it to do, and then some. Luxury it wasn't. Basic, cheap transportation it was.

I miss my Jeep Cherokee. But I'm not buying another. It wouldn't be right.

For what it's worth, since the Jeep was totaled, I've almost wrecked twice again in the same curve where I lost the Jeep. Too many people take it too fast and drift across center when they can't see what's coming the other way.
