Where do they go?

One minor irritation I have with broadcast news is that people never go to jail or go to prison. They usually can expect to spend the next so many months or years "behind bars."

Like this guy they talked about on the news this morning. A repeat DUI offender can expect to spend the next 15 years behind bars.

Am I the only one who sees a problem with that sentence the way it's phrased?
