The Post About the "Ashes" Contest

Hey Gang,

It’s time for an exciting first here on the “We Are Marshall” blog, our first contest! And what better prize for fans of “We Are Marshall” than the true story that the film is based on: “Ashes to Glory.” I’m giving away eight (count ‘em, eight!) copies of the recently re-released DVD.

If you want to win, all you have to do is email me with the story of your favorite Marshall University memory. Funny, sad, it matters not to me, I just want to hear about it. Make sure the length is under 500 words. Then, just email your story to jmcelroy@herald-dispatch.com by noon on Dec. 1. I’ll pick the eight best and announce the winners here, on my blog on Dec. 5. Give your email the subject of "Ashes Contest" so I'll know why you're emailing me.

Also, we'll run as many of the entrants as we can in The Herald-Dispatch.

The Post About Crazy People

These people are straight up insane, but you've got to love them. They were up at 3:15 a.m. lining up to buy tickets for the Keith-Albee premiere of "We Are Marshall."

Jessica Blair (who drove 7 hours to town to nab the number 2 spot) sent the picture, and she identifies the people in the pic below:

"Main front: Andrew. Left to right: Erica, Jared, Bridgette, Tina, Barbara, Jessica, Shannon, Shea, and Eric. I took a picture of the group of people who were there at 3am (including Andrew who was there overnight), and I thought you might like to have it. I wasn't sure if you were doing another story or not, but if so, here we are!"

She does not seem to identify the ninja in their midst. Go figure.

The Post About Two New Ads

Hey, look what I have for you today! Two new "We Are Marshall" ads. Some football fans may have already seen these airing on TV. Who loves you, the Internet? That's right. I do.

The Post About Kazakhstan

So I went to see Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nations of Kazakhstan this weekend. It was great, check it out. But more importantly, the film opened with the "We Are Marshall" trailer.

Then, this morning, I see that the movie raked in $26 million over the weekend, good for the top spot on the box office charts. That's gotta be good for exposure, right?
