Is it finally football weather?

I know that last week started the high school football season in all three states, but all week I had told everyone that it just didn't feel like the regular season had begun.

I couldn't pinpoint what was making it feel less exciting until I walked outside to get ready for Week 2.

When I stepped out of my house in Ashland today, I could smell a little rain, a little mud and a hint of pigskin mixed in somewhere in the recipe.

The inferno that was Week 1 seemed more like a scene from Survivor than the start of football season.

Even the stories from games suffered as it seemed like several coaches wanted to focus more on the weather aspect instead of the football game itself.

This brings me to the question...Do you think that the season (and/or the start of fall practice) should be pushed back a week or two for the safety and enjoyment of fans and players?

Midland's hogs or Cougar athletes?

When Cabell Midland and Capital take the field Friday night, there will certainly be a slight contrast of styles going head-to-head.

The Knights use their superior offensive line to give quarterback Tyler Bartley time to move the football while Capital relies on superior athleticism for making its gains.

So which will win out in Ona on Friday night: the strength and smarts of the Knights' scheme or the speed and athleticism that Capital brings to the table?

It's up for debate...feel free to make predictions!
