Dusting Off That Exercise Equipment

I have to keep telling myself that you can have no excuse not to exercise. Initially it was hard because excuse after excuse kept popping up. At first it was I didn't have the time to exercise with going to work and looking after the kids. Then my excuse was I couldn't find anyone to babysit the kids at the time that I could make it to the YMCA. Well, when my parents decided to give me their treadmill and an exercise bike, I had no more excuses, but for some reason even after the excuses ran out, the treadmill and the bike still sat in my garage for about a month.

When I did finally decide to bring the treadmill into the house, I had to knock the cobwebs off of it and figure out how to get it working again. My first attempt I think I walked for about 15 minutes and just enjoyed the fact that I was actually doing it. After this small victory, I decided it was time to bring in the exercise bike.

I decided on putting the bike in the kitchen in hopes of it being a deterrent to the refrigerator, but probably for about two weeks it just sat there starring at me while I ate cookies and ice cream. At times not only did I use it as a chair as I munched away at Doritos and Dr. Pepper, but I tripped on it a few times trying to get to the refrigerator.

After a while of my kids wondering what this equipment actually did, they started riding the bike (before me). Seeing them, I would wonder why am I not getting this down. Why am I running from my bike and the things I need to do to get my goals going?

Finally I quit running in the opposite direction and decided to give my bike a try right alongside my kids. Sometimes you just might find the inspiration to get things started in the smallest of packages.

Realizing your goals

Enthusiastic, curious, determined, and competitive describe one part of my personality. Another part of me loves being creative and just letting loose and having fun. I enjoy just being me, being happy, and being alive.

I like setting high goals for myself whether I believe I will achieve them or not. The fun is in the challenge it takes to achieve my goals and the excitement that I have once I have finally made it there. That’s why I set yet another goal or resolution for this year.

As in years before, I vowed to diet and exercise at the beginning of the new year and be at my pre pregnancy weight by year’s end. Well, I’ve been making this same resolution since 2003 after I had my son and he is now about to turn 6 years old and I have yet to see the progress that I want. So I thought, since I love to write and I have already made my same diet and exercise goal this year, why not combine the two for hopefully a better end result. If I write about my ups and downs in my journey to get healthy not only physically, but mentally and spiritually as well, maybe I’ll actually do it this time. Maybe once I actually see on paper what I’m doing and not doing in my life, I’ll finally find the result I’m looking for.

So here I will share my thoughts, inspirations, and interesting stories about trying to maintain a healthy physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual life, because I believe if you can effectively balance all of these, you will realize your health goals.
