Phoenix Wright's old foe gets his own game

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney is my favorite game for the Nintendo DS. There's nothing like repeatedly yelling the word "Hold it!" into a tiny microphone while you're on a bus full of people. Hmm...I suppose that's why I get a seat to myself every day.

One of the follow-ups to the wonderful Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice series is a game by the former villain of the games, the ever-dapper Miles Edgeworth.

As released on the Capcom Snow's Blog, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth is coming to the North American DS this winter. If you want to prepare for the release, start picking up some used copies of Phoenix Wright. That's an excellent start.

'Marvel vs. Capcom 2' heads to XBLA and PSN this summer

Perhaps in my entire college career so far, one of the greatest times I had playing a video game was playing Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for the Sega Dreamcast. A couple of friends had unearthed an old Dreamcast, and we decided to battle Mega Man and Spider-Man.

I couldn't tell you how many times the phonetic pronunciation of the term "K.O." was screamed that day ("KOOOOOOO!"). Great stuff.

The game will be out this summer for XBLA and PSN. Excellent news for the 2D fighters? It is, indeed. I'm just excited to have Iron Man shoot Zangief with an enormous proton cannon.

Here's a video for all you lonely hearts out there.

Soundtrack to 'Braid' now available

Even if you've played XBLA's Braid for one minute, the soundtrack to it should've slapped you in the face. It's incredible.

That's why I was pleased to see that it's finally available for purchase online. As a matter of fact, why don't you listen to it right here.

Music from Braid by Sieber, Kammen, Fulton and Schatz

I ain't afraid of no opening cinematic

If this isn't the best thing you've seen all day, there must be something incredible lingering in this world that I wasn't previously aware of. This opening cinematic for "Ghostbusters: The Video Game" is, in short, totally awesome.

Get ready for Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis and, of course, Ray Parker, Jr.

Color me giddy.

Celebrate post 400 with 'Batman' villains

Happy 400th post, everybody. This blog really is getting up there. Perhaps if inanimate objects floating around on the Internet had feelings, this would be a reason to celebrate.

To celebrate post 400, here's a look at a couple of villains that are going to be featured in Batman: Arkham Asylum.

First, there's Bane: the enormous guy who broke Batman's back.

Next, you've got the Joker's (wannabe) sweetheart, Harley Quinn.

Happy post 400, everybody!

'Brutal Legend' dated at last

Are you ready to play a gratuitously violent game full of blood and rock music? If you own a game console, the answer is probably yes, so I'm just going to assume that's how you answered.

Brutal Legend, the much-anticipated game starring the voice work of Jack Black, is coming out Oct. 13. I hope you're cool with leading a non-KISS rock 'n' roll army to victory with your (literal) axe, because it's happening this fall.

New 'Fez' trailer reveals more details on release, looks amazing

Even if you're sternly opposed to buying any fancy games by indie developers, you should still check out the incredible-looking Fez. The game utilizes simple graphics for what looks like hugely complex gameplay. Check out the trailer courtesy of Joystiq.

The game will be released this year, but there's still no word regarding which platform(s) it's going to out-Super-Paper-Mario Super Paper Mario on.

'Punch-Out!!' trailer introduces new mode, character

I've fawned over the prospect of a new Punch-Out!! before, but now I'm even more excited.

A new trailer from Game Trailers introduces head-to-head mode. Taking a questionable cue from comic book lore and Sonic Unleashed, Little Mac has the capability of hulking out into Giga Mac. We're all hoping this means good things for the future of the game. Here's the trailer.

'Batman: Arkham Asylum' looks surprisingly good

Batman games have never seemed to get it right. You're a world-class detective who is stuck in every video game adaptation beating up a bunch of thugs in dark rooms. If that's what the Batman comics were like, nobody would have read them.

Honestly, the only game that's come close to getting it right through solving puzzles and problem-solving is Lego Batman, but clearly that one has its own problems (since Batman is, in fact, a Lego person and not a regular person).

It seems, however, that Batman: Arkham Asylum is changing the tone of Batman's role in games. Check out a challenge mode run-through, courtesy of Joystiq.

PS2 priced at $99

(Note: For this post, you need to pretend that it's actually Christmas of the year 2000.)

Hey there, everybody! Wow, isn't it weird that the first year of the new millennium is almost over? And to think, this time last year we were stockpiling food and preparing for the worst of times!

Hey, congratulations George W. Bush! As president, you should hang out with country legend Chet Atkins (WHILE THERE'S STILL TIME...oh, I forgot to mention that I'm an evil spirit from the future in this scenario).

Anyway, if you haven't headed over to your local retailer to buy the Sony PlayStation 2 yet, you should do it now, because it has been priced down to $99! That's a savings of $200!

(In actuality, if you don't have a PS2 already, it is a pretty good deal to buy it for $100. I mean, it's also a DVD player and there are a ton of discounted "Greatest Hits" games, so you should really get one. But the news really would be mind-blowing if we did live in the year 2000. What a year, right?)
