'Batman: Arkham Asylum' looks surprisingly good

Batman games have never seemed to get it right. You're a world-class detective who is stuck in every video game adaptation beating up a bunch of thugs in dark rooms. If that's what the Batman comics were like, nobody would have read them.

Honestly, the only game that's come close to getting it right through solving puzzles and problem-solving is Lego Batman, but clearly that one has its own problems (since Batman is, in fact, a Lego person and not a regular person).

It seems, however, that Batman: Arkham Asylum is changing the tone of Batman's role in games. Check out a challenge mode run-through, courtesy of Joystiq.
