Cooking Like Mama

If you're a college student with a meal plan, you're cheating. However, I was once like you. But here in the real world, we have kitchens. Thus, I have to struggle to find things that meet the soon-in-my-belly criteria.

1) Cheap
2) Easy
3) Probably microwaveable

However, I have just discovered a web site that combines two of my great loves: food and video games. Enter the "Cooking Mama Cook Off" web page. The page has ten recipes. Here's a sample!

Strawberry Shortcake

- 1 loaf frozen pound cake, thawed
- 3 cups strawberries, hulled and sliced
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream
- 3 Tbsp. powdered sugar
- 1 tsp. vanilla

Preparation: Using a potato masher, mash half of the strawberries. Stir in the sliced strawberries and chill. Beat cream with powdered sugar and vanilla. Slice pound cake, place each piece on a serving plate, top with strawberry mixture and a dollop of cream. Serve immediately. Feeds eight people.

Better than mama!
