'Second season' begins

It was more of the same Saturday night in Cincinnati, with turnovers and penalties leading to a lopsided loss. It’s easy enough to pile on Marshall’s football team right now, but opportunity awaits with the start of the “second season.” Conference USA play opens next week at Memphis, offering the obvious question: Can the Thundering Herd save the 2007 season with strong showing over the final eight regular season games? Feel free to vent or share thoughts more toward the positive here.

Quite a day

OK, let’s be honest. Who didn’t have fun on Saturday? Are Marshall football players, coaches or fans pleased or even content with a (misleading) 48-23 loss to West Virginia? A world of no. It was a fun ride for Thundering Herd football, however, leading 13-6 at halftime and trailing just 27-23 late in the third quarter. Joan C. Edwards Stadium was sold out, Mountaineer fans exited Huntington with a victory and from all indications, everyone got along. There’s no more questioning the validity of this series; in fact, this simply hammers home the point that Marshall-WVU should be played home and away. Share your thoughts, supporters of both programs, on this blog. Hope you had fun.

Name your score

First off, my apologies for the far-too-long gap between blogs. WVU game week has arrived it’s time to break this thing down. Does Marshall have a shot at pulling an Appalachian State, or is the 23-point spread about right? This is the place to submit your predictions. Feel free to include you think what you think. On a side note, Marshall fans are encouraged to attend a pep rally beginning at 6 p.m. at Gino’s Pub on 5th Ave. Coach Mark Snyder’s call-in show will be broadcast from the Gino’s Pub parking lot beginning at 7 p.m.
