Smith: "It was always Marshall"

Marshall football coach Mark Snyder didn't have to travel far to land a true recruiting coup. South Point High School quarterback Chris Smith verbally committed to the Thundering Herd on Thursday, adding a legitimate four-star prospect to the Class of 2007. Smith received offers from eight schools, including Iowa, West Virginia and Cincinnati, but said "it was always Marshall." Marshall's first two commitments, Smith and Beckley High School offensive lineman Micah Carter, are local prospects who received BCS offers. Quite a start for Snyder and his coaching staff.
